The VR (short for Victoria Regina) on the door of the Post Box (Mail Box to Americans) lets us know that it was built during the reign of Queen Victoria, 1837-1901. This Post Box is in Kingston upon Hull, England. It may interesting to note that since 1953 all new Post Boxes carry the inscription EIIR on their door to show that they were produced during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.
